Does the success of autonomous spacecraft and the rise of AI render human involvement in future space exploration unnecessary?

Even were AGI & autonomous swarms of robot space drones to take over space exploration tomorrow, they'd probably want to take a few humans, and maybe some other species along—heck why not a biosphere or two?

Maybe not ‘necessary’ necessary, but still handy to bring along. How better to help young AI learn patience?
